New Raleigh Economic Development Director

As the new director for Raleigh Economic Development, I’d like to introduce myself and give you a little background. My name is James Sauls, and I have been active in economic development for seven years.

I was most recently the economic development director for the town of Fuquay-Varina and the executive director for the Fuquay-Varina Economic Development Commission. Prior to joining the town of Fuquay-Varina, I was a project manager for Wake County Economic Development. I hope to use the experience I’ve gained over the past seven years to help promote and grow the city of Raleigh.

I’m on day two in my new position, and I’ve jumped right in. All this week I’ll be attending the National Solar Conference that’s being held at the Raleigh Convention Center. The Solar Conference is the longest-running event for solar energy professionals developed by experts in the field. This conference provides a great opportunity for Raleigh to show off the city by hosting the conference, as well as exhibiting to show the new strides Raleigh and Wake County have made in the Smart Grid Industry.

I look forward to working with each of you, if you’d like to reach me please call 919.664.7049 or by e-mail.
