The 2024 State of the County Address took place on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Scott Northern Wake Tech Campus in Raleigh. Wake County Board of Commissioners Chair Shinica Thomas celebrated the progress the county has made this year and highlighted future projects that will support and serve our nearly 1.2 million residents.
In addition to her remarks, Chair Thomas also led an engaging conversation with local leaders, including:
- Wake County Sheriff Willie Rowe
- Wake Tech President Scott Ralls
- Wake County Chief Medical Officer José Cabañas
- Wake County Economic Development Executive Director Michael Haley

The event also featured a video of the County Commissioners discussing a year of success across Wake County. Commissioner Matt Calabria highlighted economic development activity, including recent announcements from FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies, Audemars Piguet, Forge Battery, and Jewelers Mutual Group.
