Albert Alwang Promoted to Director of Business Recruitment and Expansion

Wake County Economic Development is excited to announce that Albert Alwang has been promoted to the role of Director of Business Recruitment and Expansion (BRE). In this expanded role, Albert will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the BRE team, oversee WCED’s economic development project management pipeline, and manage the additional tasks assigned to team members.

Since joining the WCED team is April 2019, Albert has announced more than 40 projects, totaling more than $5.7B in planned capital investment and 11,000+ jobs. Albert is a leader in attracting a diverse range of companies to the community, including Weatherby Healthcare, Genentech, FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies, Berk-Tek, Sumitomo Pharma Co., FUJIFILM Irvine Scientific, Blue Force Technologies, Marrone Bio Innovations, Algiknit, CCL Label, Sagent Pharmaceuticals, Enrivolight, Gilead, Pennymac, Schmalz and others.

In addition to attracting new projects to the region, Albert also leads WCED’s existing industry program. Through this program, he communicates with businesses of all sizes across the county to understand the challenges they face and creates opportunities to connect businesses to their peers and other resources in the community.
