A delegation of high-ranking government officials from Switzerland visited North Carolina last week. Wake County Economic Development and Raleigh Economic Development had the honor of joining Governor Josh Stein at the Executive Mansion for a celebration of 175 years of U.S.–Swiss diplomatic relations and the thriving economic partnership between Switzerland and North Carolina.
Organized by the Research Triangle Regional Partnership (RTRP), the event spotlighted Switzerland’s impressive role as the #6 foreign investor and #7 foreign employer in the U.S., with 103 Swiss companies actively investing and creating jobs right here in North Carolina.
Regional Highlights:
- UBS continues to expand its footprint and community engagement in the Triangle, reinforcing our strength in finance and innovation.
- Genentech & Ypsomed AG are investing nearly $900 million in biomanufacturing and medtech facilities, creating hundreds of high-skill jobs and growing our life sciences ecosystem.
- Audemars Piguet is opening its new North American Service Center at Raleigh Iron Works — a $22M investment bringing 100+ skilled jobs and showcasing confidence in our workforce and global appeal.
This visit is a powerful reminder of how globally connected and economically vibrant our region has become — especially in life sciences, advanced manufacturing, and finance.
