Kathleen Henry named to Georgia Southern University’s 40 under 40

We are pleased to share Kathleen Henry, Economic Development Director was recently named to Georgia Southern University's Alumni Association 40 under 40 Class of 2020! This program, in its fifth year, recognizes and celebrates young alumni that are leading the way in business, leadership, community, educational, and philanthropic endeavors. Kathleen was selected by a committee made up of the alumni board, faculty, and staff. The committee reviewed and evaluated over 240 nominations and selected an accomplished and experienced group of 40 leaders.

Kathleen joins an elite group of individuals who either went to Georgia Southern University or Armstrong University. Kathleen attended Armstrong University and pursued a bachelors’ degree in Economics while competing as a member of the university’s national championship tennis team.

Kathleen has been working with WCED since 2017 as a key member of the business recruitment and expansion team. Her role within WCED has also focused on strategic efforts around Wake County Economic Development's Foreign Direct Investment initiatives with the goal of marketing the region as a strategic US location for foreign-owned companies. She is also an active board member for the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT)  and serves on the NC Coalition for Global Competitiveness Committee.

 During her time at WCED, Kathleen has led several key economic development projects such as the Xerox and Microsoft announcements.
