During the summer months, there is no shortage of new, fun, and exciting activities and events to be a part of in Wake County. Whether you’d like to be inside or outside, by yourself or with family, there’s always a variety of things to do.

If you’re trying to beat the heat indoors, there are many museums in the area to explore. Come face to face with dinosaurs at theNorth Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences; or let the kids experience a hands-on museum created just for them at theMarbles Kids Museum, where everyone caan enjoy the larger-than-life IMAX experience. Visit the newly renovated North Carolina Museum of Art, and see in person beautiful artwork by Auguste Rodin, Jackie Ferrara, and Adolph Gottlieb as well as many others. After you see the artwork, be sure to stay late and enjoy Theater in the Museum Park for great music and movies all summer long.

If you want to stay outside, there are always the Carolina Mudcats(Double-A baseball affiliate for the Cincinnati Reds), or theCarolina RailHawks FC (NASL Division of the American Soccer Pyramid). And don’t forget about the concerts and special events held at the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek,Koka Booth Amphitheater, and the brand new Raleigh Amphitheater in downtown. Prefer to be near water? Not a problem – Jordan Lake and Falls Lake provide a number of water activities. Both lakes offer the opportunity to boat, fish, canoe, or just enjoy a cool summer swim.
