According to a study by U-Haul, the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill metropolitan area had the seventh largest net gain of U-Haul customers using one-way moving equipment. Analysts compiled over 2.5 million one-way truck, trailer and U-Box portable moving container transactions that occur annually in the U.S. This is the first year that metropolitan areas have been part of the annual growth reports and rankings. “The area continues to grow due to the career opportunities and quality of life people find here. North Carolina State, UNC and Duke are all in this area, which gives this market a young, energetic college vibe. UNC’s and Duke’s healthcare systems are huge and bring in a lot of employment. There are multiple research facilities that surround the area.” said Matthew Bourgeois, U-Haul Company of Raleigh president. See how Raleigh compared to other metros here.
