Wake County Economic Development Overview
Wake County Economic Development (WCED), a program of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, is the primary economic development organization for Wake County, providing economic development support for its 12 municipalities. As a program of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, the organization proactively creates an environment in which Wake County can grow and thrive, resulting in new jobs and capital investment.
WCED accomplishes its mission through five strategic pillars: comprehensive infrastructure development, business recruitment, expansion & economic mobility, talent recruitment & workforce solutions, marketing & global awareness, and regional leadership.
Method of Selection
The Project & Marketing Coordinator is selected by the Director of Business Recruitment & Expansion, Senior Research Manager and Senior Strategic Marketing Manager.
Nature and Extent of Job Responsibilities
The Project & Marketing Coordinator supports the work of both the Business Recruitment and Expansion (BRE) Team as well as the Senior Strategic Marketing Manager.
The position will have responsibilities in the following key areas: supporting the BRE team with economic development projects; providing support for strategic marketing initiatives and tasks; supporting economic development research requests and projects.
Project Support and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) | The coordinator will support the BRE team in coordinating economic development project submissions and managing the CRM system used to track projects. Responsibilities Include:
- Support the Senior Research Manager and project management staff in completing all economic development Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
- Assist in the creation and updating of client presentations and materials
Marketing Support | The coordinator will be responsible for supporting the Senior Strategic Marketing Manager in all functions of the economic development department’s marketing & communications initiatives. Responsibilities include:
- Contribute to website and social media content creation and upkeep
- Compile jobs and draft content for weekly virtual job fair, #TriangleTuesdays
- Compile content for monthly reports and collaterals such as the Economic Development Recap publication and the scorecard collateral
- Support the Senior Strategic Marketing Manager in updating marketing collateral, publications and websites on a weekly, monthly and annual basis as required
Research Support | The coordinator will be responsible for supporting the Senior Research Manager in all functions of the BRE team’s initiatives. Responsibilities include:
- Assist and perform various research requests using a variety of datasets and tools (Costar, STDB, D&B Hoovers, EMSI, and others)
- Manage and update Wake County’s property search tool database
- Collect and submit pricing data for the Cost-of-Living Index every quarter
- Use Microsoft Excel to formulate customized data reports, synthesizing information from various sources
- Support and maintain information and data for various reports and tracking
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred but not required.
Other Requirements
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with multiple partners.
- Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail required. Proofreading skills strongly preferred.
- Must be tech-savvy, methodical and self-motivated.
- Adaptable to a fast-paced environment and able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects at once.
- Proficient/fluent in technologies including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with or ability to quickly learn Adobe InDesign, Canva, Prezi, Client Relationship Management (CRM), prosperity databases and social media platforms (LinkedIn, scheduling software, etc.).
- Ability to read, analyze and summarize data and reports to present relevant findings.
- 1-2 years experience in economic development, project management, commercial real estate, business development, marketing, communications, or related field preferred but not required.
Accountability
This position is part of the Business Recruitment & Expansion team and reports to the Senior Research Manager.
