Ashley Cagle, assistant executive director for Wake County Economic Development (WCED), and Kimberly Wheeler, director of business engagement for Capital Area Workforce Development (CAWD) joined Ron Painter, National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB), for an interview on the “Workforce Central” podcast. Ron interviewed Ashley and Kimberly after receiving the Laurie Moran Partnership award earlier this year. This award is given jointly to a chamber of commerce and a workforce development board who have demonstrated strong partnerships to advance workforce efforts and economic development in the local region.
Ashley and Kimberly spoke highly of the years-long partnership between WCED, CAWD, and the Raleigh Chamber, and the value it has brought to the community. The connection between workforce development and economic development is critical, especially when partnering on projects to bring new companies and talent to the region.
