The North Carolina Energy Office is giving out $5.6 million federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds. These funds will create 400 jobs and internships across the state of North Carolina. The $5.6 million from the N.C. Energy Office will be combined with approximately $3 million from private and public agencies in North Carolina.
These funds will open opportunities across Wake County, specifically within the North Carolina State University Schools of Engineering and Energy Management. A variety of opportunities from summer internships, to fellowships, to full time jobs will be created across the state. Students at N.C. State, University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill, Duke University and North Carolina Central University, to name a few, will benefit directly from firsthand experience in sustainable energy and technology programs.
With a strong focus on green-energy and sustainable resources, students will have the opportunity to work alongside industry leaders on a topic that is very relevant and rapidly expanding within North Carolina.
