While the rest of the nation is slowly awakening from its economic slumber, Wake County is one of 14 major markets, out of 102, that now has more jobs than it did prerecession. The combined announcements of MetLife and Ipreo Holdings will bring 1,450 jobs to Wake County, solidifying that the Greater Raleigh area is a top location for companies to relocate and expand.
During the first three and a half months of 2013, Wake County had 33 new projects, which could account for more than 12,500 jobs and $980 million in investment. Our project visits, which are true indicators that a company is serious about making a location decision, have picked up tremendously, totaling 21 visits since January 1. In addition, Wake County had 21 new and expanding announcements, bringing more than 2,000 new jobs and over $119 million in investment.
