Wake Technical Community College (Wake Tech)

Wake Tech is a two-year, public institution serving Raleigh, N.C., and surrounding Wake County. Chartered in 1958, the institution is part of the N.C. Community College System and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

This highly regarded community college currently offers more than 150 programs of study that lead to an associate’s degree, diploma, or certificate in a wide range of fields. Wake Tech’s comprehensive online education program includes more than 300 online courses, offering 25 degree, diploma, and certificate programs online.

The Job Placement Office at Wake Tech assists students and alumni in seeking full-time, permanent employment upon graduation. It also helps students find part-time, temporary employment while they attend school. Employers working with Job Placement can contact graduates of the following divisions:

An Annual Career Fair in the Spring Semester also brings employers on campus to recruit.

Wake Tech’s Continuing Education programs allow students to train or update in a vocational or professional area, grow in basic knowledge, or develop personal enrichment skills and knowledge. The Evening Division offers credit and non-credit courses for those who cannot attend day classes.

One of the fastest-growing segments on community college campuses are students over age 50, and Wake Tech is among 15 community colleges throughout the United States currently offering a “Plus 50” program. A popular course in this program is called “Re-Careering and Re-Hiring,” aimed at adults who are re-entering the work force.
