Forbes: How The Rest Of America Is Competing With Silicon Valley

Forbes published "How The Rest Of America Is Competing With Silicon Valley" by Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) President Joan Siefert-Rose, as part of our campaign's ongoing series.

The piece is centered on a recent study revealing that Raleigh and the Triangle, ranking in the top 10, outperform most of the country in:

  • Percentage of the workforce with a college degree or higher
  • Concentration of millennials living downtown
  • Number of top-rated universities
  • Ability to attract venture capital to startups
  • Percentage of jobs in 20 fast-growing tech sectors

Raleigh also had the second greatest percentage increase in technology jobs from 2010-2015 (38.5%).

"Great universities, a history of innovative companies spinning out great talent and ideas, and an ability to keep company costs low make it an attractive location for entrepreneurs and growing enterprises that are looking for a landing spot," adds Siefert-Rose.
