In the annual study by CNBC ranking America’s best states for business, North Carolina narrowly missed the top spot by just three points, making this the closest finish in the history of the study.
Following an impressive two-year run in first place, North Carolina scores highest in business friendliness, workforce, and economy. For the first time this year, the study added an infrastructure category that heavily played into the final results.
North Carolina continues to be a top destination business, as is evidenced by record numbers of planned capital investment and job announcements over the last five years.
