Do you have an itch to go skiing in the Rocky Mountains? Perhaps visit family in the Pacific Northwest? Go ahead and book your tickets. Delta Air Lines is launching non-stop service from RDU on December 22, just in time for holiday travel or a New Year’s Eve getaway.
Tickets are on sale now for the non-stop route, which will depart daily from RDU at 7:45 a.m. and arrives in Salt Lake City at 10:30 a.m., local time. The return flight departs SLC at 5 p.m. local time and returns home at 10:51 p.m. our time. The flights will take place via the Airbus A-320 aircraft with 150 seats.
The schedule allows for a long, yet possible, day trip to Utah’s capital city for a quick face-to-face business meeting. But beyond the streets of Salt Lake City or the peaks of the Rocky Mountains, the new flight means that RDU is connected to all of Delta Air Lines’ domestic hubs and provides new ways to go west.
Via Salt Lake City, you can now connect to some of the largest cities in the Pacific Northwest, such as Portland, Spokane and Eugene, Ore. with one stop from RDU. Also, popular vacation destinations such as Cody/Yellowstone and Jackson Hole, both in Wyoming, are now just one-stop from RDU.
You can also go international. The new flight brings easy one-stop connections between Calgary and Vancouver in Canada and Puerto Vallarta in Mexico. Other cities such as Casper, Wyo; Helena, Great Falls, Billings and Missoula in Montana and Boise, Idaho just got easier to fly to.
More than 54,000 people travel between RDU and Salt Lake City each year, or about 147 people per day. Delta previously operated daily non-stop service to SLC between 2005 and early 2009, but suspended it due to the economy, fuel prices and aircraft resource issues. We’re very glad the flight is back.
Delta is also bringing more good news. Beginning in September, they’re beginning four new daily flights to Philadelphia, one of our top 10 destinations. Two morning and two afternoon flights are planned aboard 50-seat Canadair regional jets.
