NerdWallet considers income, affordability, population growth, and unemployment rates
San Francisco, CA (January 8, 2014) – NerdWallet, a consumer advocacy website, recently conducted a study to find the best places for job seekers in the United States – and Raleigh is in the top 10.
As many people are still searching for employment in this recovering economy, NerdWallet wanted to give consumers a look at the current job market. Using the most recent data, NerdWallet crunched the numbers and found the best cities for job seekers, based on the following criteria:
- Median income
- Monthly homeowner costs
- Population growth
- Unemployment rates
NerdWallet ranked Raleigh as the sixth best place in the nation for job seekers. The city saw a 4.2 percent population growth between 2010 and 2012, and it has an unemployment rate of 5.4 percent.
“Known for its research and development industry, Raleigh is home to major employers such IBM, Cisco, and Oracle,” said NerdWallet analyst Divya Raghavan. “Job seekers can learn relevant job skills at the Center for Employment Training in nearby Durham.”
Other cities in the top 10 include Fort Worth, Texas, and Oklahoma City, Okla. Read the full study online.
